Quick Tip: Get vCenter Instance UUID via SSH

This post was published 3 years 4 months 21 days ago, so the post may be outdated.

That post is more a quick note, in case someone ever needs this. There might be few very specific and rare situations where you might need the unique vCenter-Instance-UUID. In this case, you can get the instanceUuid in following configuration file /etc/vmware-vpx/instance.cfg:

$ cat /etc/vmware-vpx/instance.cfg
applicationDN=dc\=virtualcenter,dc\=vmware,dc\=int
instanceUuid=fd8cbae6-caaf-4641-bcfb-5c1f955a7839
ldapPort=389
ldapInstanceName=VMwareVCMSDS
ldapStoragePath=/etc/vmware-vpx/
